AASHTO's Center for Environmental Excellence Website
(
http://www.environment.transportation.org) launched in October 2003, has several new features to keep transportation and environmental professionals up-to-date on news and information.
The new "Web Watch" feature provides regular updates from web sites of interest to transportation and environmental professionals. In addition, the site includes weekly news highlights from BNA's Transportation/Environment Alert, a service of AASHTO's Environmental Technical Assistance Program.
Online access to the full articles is now available to registered subscribers. Subscription information and sample issues also are available through the registration process -- by linking on "read full article" under This Week's News.
AASHTO's Center for Environmental Excellence has been developed in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration to promote environmental stewardship and to encourage innovative ways to streamline the transportation delivery process. The Center is designed to serve as a resource for transportation professionals seeking technical assistance, training, information exchange, partnership-building opportunities, and quick and easy access to environmental tools. The website is continuously updated with information on a variety of environmental topics of concern to the transportation community, including air quality, water quality and wetlands, waste/recycling, historic preservation, endangered species/ecosystems, context sensitive solutions, environmental management systems, secondary/indirect and cumulative impacts, land use/smart growth, environmental enhancements, NEPA process, and project delivery/streamlining. The site also tracks research and provides a calendar of events.
